The Band of The Royal Logistic Corps Bandmaster Sgt (BM) Jonathan Spencer  BMus (Hons.) PGDip LRSM Key Band Personnel

Captain Petritz-Watts began her musical career playing the Euphonium at the West Sussex County Music Centre and the Cranleigh Youth Band before attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior department. She was also a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and the National Youth Wind Orchestra.  

Captain Petritz-Watts graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) on Euphonium where she studied with Steven Mead and Robert Childs. She was a semi – finalist at the Leonard Falcone competition, USA and a founder member of the Euph4ria Tuba Quartet who received the Philip Jones chamber music prize in 2003, performing with them  in many recital venues across the UK including St-Martins-in-the-field, London and as guest artists at the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Budapest, Hungary. She has performed as a soloist with the RNCM Brass Band and in the ensemble for CD recordings with the RNCM Wind Orchestra, BBC Radio 3 Broadcasts with the Halle Orchestra and has also performed with various Championship level Brass Bands at the highest level.

In 2005 she joined the Army gaining prizes at Phase 1 and 2 Training before being posted to the Royal Artillery Band. During her time there she performed numerous solos with the band and gained her Masters in Music Performance.

In 2010 she was selected for the Bandmasters' Course at Kneller Hall, successfully commissioning from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2011 as the first Direct Entry Officer in CAMUS. She deployed on Op HERRICK 17 and EX LONG LOOK and previously held the post of Assistant Director of Music at the Band and Bugles of the Rifles and Platoon Commander at ATC Pirbright.  Captain Petritz-Watts is extremely proud to have the privilege to be Director of Music of the Band of the Royal Logistic Corps.

SSgt (BM) Spencer is a post-graduate of the Royal College of Music and a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. As a trumpet player he has enjoyed success and acclaim in competition; he is a concerto prize winner having performed Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in the Duke's Hall, Royal Academy of Music. SSgt Spencer was selected to take part in the Erasmus overseas music exchange programme.

As a former member of The Band of the Irish Guards, SSgt Spencer enjoyed a busy musical schedule with them, both in the UK and abroad, completing tours of the USA, Canada and Germany. SSgt Spencer was a featured soloist at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, 2013, performing War Horse. He was also regularly featured as a soloist on public duties and numerous public engagements.

Having left the band in April 2014, SSgt Spencer was selected for and undertook the Musical Direction Course at RMSM Kneller Hall; on successful completion he was appointed Bandmaster of The Band of the Royal Logistic Corps.

Since his arrival to the Band, in August 2015, he has directed military parades, dinner nights and concerts to name a few. He was fortunate enough to participate in the Royal Bermuda Tattoo. SSgt Spencer is looking forward to the year ahead, which will see the Band take part in other overseas engagements, public duties and further concerts.
